Rise to Serve: Calling Believers to Civic Involvement

I'm highlighting this presentation through this 2012 General Election cycle. This is a 45-minute speaking presentation on the touchy subject of Christians in politics. I start off by laying some theological and historical foundations. Part two gives answers to many of the objections offered to civic involvement. Then we wrap up with very practical action items to show people how simple it is to get involved and how wide open the door.
Follow-up Q&A of 20-30 minutes is recommended.

About Me as a Speaker

Sharing the message of following Jesus through life's big decisions is a passion for me. That's why I challenge Christian 18-to-20-somethings to consider how great life can be when we live the design the Creator gave us. I'm a big user of multimedia: PowerPoint, movie clips, and graphics. It will NOT be boring!

  • Band Tour. My first experiences speaking to large groups came twenty-five years ago as a traveling musician with One Accord out of North Central Bible College. In the two years I traveled across the American Midwest and central Canada, I spoke to dozens of church and camp audiences from a few dozen to 500+.
  • Youth Pastor. My first church job was with the youth at First Assembly of God in Stevens Point, WI. Besides Wednesday nights with the youth group, I spoke at regional events and camp workshops. One year I was speaker for the Saskatchewan Junior Youth Convention in Saskatoon. I also spoke here and there on Sundays and split Sunday preaching duties with a fellow associate during a three-month interim.
  • Senior Pastor. As the planting pastor of the Wausau Vineyard Church, I spoke three or four Sundays a year for about three years. This was my greatest season of personal growth as a public speaker. I also served as Music Director and Music Pastor for a couple of churches. I love seeing God's presence move in worship and through the Word.
  • Corporate. I also have experience as a trainer of electronic medical record software. I work with doctors and nurses both one-on-one and in classes. I've learned not to waste people's time!
