Five great questions of life: Life * Love * Learning * Labor * Leadership
Interceding for Pastor SaeedBy Evan Nehring
There were hearings on Capitol Hill today for Pastor Saeed Abedini. Pastor Saeed has been in an Iranian prison for several months now. His crime? Working to build a Christian orphanage in Iran and sharing his faith in Jesus. He has been sentenced to eight years in a terrible prison with murderers and rapists. It's the type of prison from which many do not return.
I want to join my voice with those calling for our United States government to apply pressure for Pastor Saeed's release. Secretary of State John Kerry met recently with Iranian officials to discuss nuclear weapons development. He sat across from Pastor Saeed's captors and did not even mention US desire for his release!
Compelling video with pleas from Representative Chris Smith and from Pastor Saeed's wife, Naghmeh, today can be viewed here: http://video.foxnews.com/v/2928799693001/rep-chris-smith-on-efforts-to-bring-detained-americans-home/?playlist_id=928378949001.
President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry, senators, representatives and government officials at every level, I implore you to speak out and advocate on behalf of Pastor Saeed. We can make a difference in securing his release!
