2013 Week 11: Double Milestone Day

2013 Week 11: Double Milestone DayMilestone two for the week: finished another book chapter! So I start another two week chapter completion goal: finishing The Launch: Leaving Home. It's part of the Learning section, focused on college and holding onto God's truth in the forum of ideas.

I'm excited to blog some of my pre-edited writing from the personal management section in the weeks ahead. For some, it will be the very heart of what they hope and pray for their kids as they launch out on their own.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

2013 Week 11: Double Milestone Day

I love milestones. Sure, we can slug on week after week and be disciplined without seeing immediate rewards, but I love milestones!

I hit two pretty nice ones this week...busted my biscuits to do it!

Here's the week 11 version of my weekly goal updates for 2013.

1. Have 12 monthly date nights with Colleen.

No, this wasn't one of the milestones. It didn't happen, but March is not over! Our sitter was sick and alternate plans didn't work out. So we try again this weekend.

2. Lose 37 pounds by May 6.

Yes, this was one of the milestones! I got one more pound this week to make 20 for the year! I'm thankful for the one pound, since my little shoulder injury last week has slowed me down a bit.

Goal this week: rest the shoulder, eat no flex points, get another 1-2 pounds.

May 6 - wild success; June 6 - great success; July 6 - success; August 6  - slow success

3. House projects: Finish Organizing Upstairs Office

Yeah, this didn't happen at all this week. Goals for next week: finish 3 of the 6 tasks to complete this project. Was too busy focusing on...

4. Meet my Road Trip writing deadlines for 2013.

Milestone two for the week: finished another book chapter!

The larger writing goal, again,  is to finish section three by June 5. That will include seven chapters (two are done), and that gives me about two weeks per chapter.

5. Complete the new roof project.

This project moved ahead nicely this week. I picked up on sale a 50' roll of steel for the valley metal beside the dormers. I also got feedback from lots of family on the May/June project dates. So the team is also coming together.

Goals for this week:
  • Create a safety plan.
  • Locate enough roof jacks, including rental pricing.
  • Talk with family about tools, ladders.
  • Finance update

I want to encourage anyone reading these carpe diem posts to set your eyes on some goals and go after it! So much of your life is entirely up to you!
