Very much enjoyed speaking with the folks at the Northwoods Vineyard Church on Sunday, December 7th. We talked about God turning the hearts of the parents to the children heading out on their road trips, as well as King David's story of leaving home and heading out on his own.
We worship our eternal Redeemer. We become more like him through spiritual disciplines in the Word and prayer. We connect with godly family and friends. We reach out to our near ones. We grow in godly character. We get better with our time, money & career, health and possessions.
We step into our place in God's eternal kingdom story.
The Road Trip Road Trip is history! 2500 miles across the United States and Canada! If you're connected with me by social media, you caught a pretty good smattering of pictures, video and updates. My travels in the Rav4 are done...for now...and here's what happened. Lotsa pictures, little talking.
My publisher is requesting we all work together to get 30 Amazon reviews for Road Trip in 30 Days. Why? Well, it helps the book get out of the chute for sales. December is the second best season of the year for graduation gifts. Your honest thoughts on Road Trip can make a difference. If you're in the Wausau-Tomahawk area, I can also loan you a book for this purpose. It's that valuable to me!
The campus is a great place to carve out the devotion habit. Yes, the pressure is on with classes, but this is preparation for life commitments. Consequences in college are called grades. Consequences in life are called rewards and punishment.
There's nothing like looking into the eyes of a parent as you talk about your children finding their paths. It's hard to describe how deeply we want our children to do well and provide for themselves. Is it about getting them off of our financial support? Well, yeah, there's some of that. But far greater is our desire to see them thrive on their own.
Being on the track, in the mud, sometimes just means doing that thing you know you're supposed to do. Stop questioning. Stop philosophizing. Stop looking around. Set your face forward in the flying muck...and run!
I submit to you today that looking into the eyes of misery is one way to bridge the gap of income inequality. As each of the millions of us choose to bridge the income gap with compassion instead of barricading it with arrogance, we will be closer to heaven.
Johnny and Kay are missionaries to Asia. These aren't their real names and I can only publish pictures of their surroundings. We had an amazing two-hour Facetime chat recently. Their love of God and people is off the charts. Care to join them on their mission? It would be a tremendous honor to connect you!
Do you feel incapable of what God is calling you to do? Feed your heart! If you've stepped into relationship with Jesus, your heart and soul have divine DNA. You've got royal blood! But sons and daughters of heaven with no nourishment will shrivel and fade as surely as sons and daughters of earth.
